Bo Ament and Nick Palmer met at the University of Missouri in 2014. After graduating in 2015 they moved to Scottsdale together to work in wine and spirits. Nick's career later took him to Las Vegas. Bo went into insurance, opening an extension of his family's agency, Ament Benefits.
When COVID hit in early 2020, Nick came back to Arizona and asked Bo to take him on as a partner. They started with individual insurance and Medicare, and over the next two years moved into group benefits. In 2021, after their time with Ament Benefits, they had the chance to help open a Phoenix office for an agency expanding into the market.
A year inside that corporate model was enough. They thought employers deserved a different kind of broker, one that worked the way they'd learned to work in hospitality. They wanted to serve small employers and industries that usually get overlooked, take care of clients properly, and do a better job explaining how insurance works.
They started PAKG Benefits in 2022. Laurie Hatch joined as Account Manager in 2023, and Adam Wilkerson came on in 2025 to grow PAKG's presence in the Midwest.
PAKG now manages more than 70 clients across 15 states. Whatever the size or industry, the work hasn't changed much: answer the phone, teach people how their benefits work, and stay involved long after the plan is placed.
