Benefits Strategy

Looking past this year's renewal.

In plain English

A benefits strategy is a multi-year plan for what an employer offers, how it is funded and how costs are shared, built around the business's goals and budget.

Why look past one renewal

A lot of benefits decisions get made in the three weeks before a renewal deadline. That's how employers end up taking a rate increase because there wasn't time to do anything else.

Strategy just means making those decisions earlier and with more information. Where do you want the plan to be in two or three years, and what has to happen this year to get there?

How we build it

We look at your claims, your workforce, what employees told us in surveys and what you can spend. Then we lay out the options and what each one costs you, in plain terms, with the risks spelled out.

That might mean moving from an age-based small-group plan to a level-funded one, adding an HRA to soften a higher deductible or changing how contributions are split between single and family coverage.

What we weigh

What are you trying to achieve?
Hiring in a tight market and holding a budget call for different plans.
Who works for you?
Ages, families, locations and pay levels shape what employees value and can afford.
What does your claims picture look like?
If you can see it, it guides funding. If you can't, that's worth fixing.
How much risk can you carry?
Cash flow and leadership comfort decide how far along the funding spectrum to go.
“PAKG was able to take our age-based small group plan to a level-funded plan that resulted in a massive cost savings to both our company and every single enrolled employee.”

What we bring to the table

We're independent, so we can quote across carriers and funding types. Through national partnerships we have resources in every state we serve, while keeping a direct relationship with you from Phoenix.

We'll also tell you when the current plan is fine. Not every year calls for a change.

Reviewing it

We check in on the plan during the year, not only at renewal. Claims reports, employee questions and billing all tell us whether the strategy is working, and we adjust before the next deadline arrives.

Let’s talk about your benefits.

Tell us what you have now and what's bothering you about it. We'll take it from there.
